Besides taking an open U.S. Senate seat and claiming victory for governor, Democrats yesterday also swept two other statewide offices. Montgomery County State’s Attorney Doug Gansler was elected state attorney general, getting 58 percent of the vote to 41 percent for Republican State’s Attorney Scott Rolle of Frederick County.
Mr. Gansler will replace longtime Attorney General Joseph J. Curran III, who retired.
