If there was an award for the most charismatic, talented and attractive person in Washington, Ian Koski would definitely create the web site for it.
As Kennedy Communications' Vice President for New Media Strategy, Ian advises campaigns and organizations on the the best strategies and tactics for utilizing the full breadth of the internet to organize and win.
He joined the Kennedy team in February 2010 after two years as the senior strategy client manager at Blue State Digital, where he managed a portfolio highlighted by Senator Ted Kennedy, Senator John Kerry, Governor Martin O'Malley, Barack Obama's Presidential Inaugural Committee, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, and the U.S. Olympic Committee.
He has published articles on online campaigning in several reports and journals and is a contributing author to the book, "Getting Results: A Guide for Federal Leaders and Managers." He has delivered lectures about the latest in new media strategy to an array of audiences in the U.S. and abroad, frequently focusing on the lessons from Barack Obama's presidential campaign that can be applied to other organizations.
Ian received his bachelor's degree in communication from Villanova University, but likes to say he majored in the newspaper since he spent more time there than in class. After a year in New York editing a bilingual newspaper in the South Bronx, Ian headed to DC to earn his master's degree in political management from the George Washington University.
In all, Ian worked for seven years as a journalist at newspapers in New York and Philadelphia, covering politics, education, and his first love - sports. The years of sitting in the pressbox at stadiums and arenas around the country never quite left him, so when the Montreal Expos came to Washington, Ian teamed up with a friend to launch NationalsPride.com – an independent news web site he continues to run today in his free time.
