DelawareIn a major upset, Delaware State Treasurer Jack Markell won the September gubernatorial primary against Lieutenant Governor John Carney, overcoming a double digit deficit and shaking up Delaware politics. The state's highest vote getter in November, he won the governorship with more than two-thirds of the vote.

New Jersey In an historic win, John Adler became the first Democrat elected in New Jersey's 3rd Congressional District in more than a century. He defeated Republican Chris Myers for the seat — which had been held by Republicans since 1882 — in a high-profile, hotly contested race after the retirement of U.S. Representative Jim Saxton.

Pennsylvania & Delaware Kennedy helped Democrats take control of the Delaware State House for the first time in over two decades and more than doubled the Democratic majority in the State Senate. By expanding the Democratic majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, we helped ensure the election of the first Democratic Speaker in 14 years.

New Jersey Serving as the lead mail vendor for the New Jersey state legislative elections, Kennedy helped maintain a healthy Democratic majority in the State Assembly while increasing the majority in the State Senate by providing mail for the only two Democratic pick-ups.

IllinoisIn Chicago, Kennedy provided mail for several successful Ward Council races, including the successful campaign of Sandi Jackson, wife of Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr., and Pat Dowell.

VirginiaIn a tightly fought contest, Delegate David Poisson defeated telecommunications executive Lynn Chapman to retain his seat and help the Democrats get closer to gaining a majority in the House of Delegates.

PennsylvaniaClient Joe Sestak defeated longtime Republican Congressman Curt Weldon in a highly targeted Pennsylvania district. Despite initially being down by 23 points in polls, Sestak won by a stunning 12 points on Election Day. Additionally, Kennedy provided mail for 13 Pennsylvania State House races, winning 10 and producing five pick-ups – resulting in Democrats taking back the House for the first time in 12 years.

Maryland Kennedy won all ten primary campaigns we worked on in Maryland. Besides victories on the State Senate, State Delegate and County Council level, other notable wins included Doug Gansler’s competitive Attorney General race, Jack Johnson’s victory as Prince George’s County Executive and two Delegate candidates who won despite very large fields.

DelawareIn addition to helping re-elect U.S. Senator Tom Carper, Kennedy helped Delaware Democrats maintain their State Senate majority and move closer to winning a State House majority. Only four years ago, House Republicans held two and a half seats for every Democratic seat. After three consecutive cycles with Kennedy as the lead mail vendor, State House control is now only three seats away.

New JerseyNew Jersey Democrats had the best midterm election in 50 years – picking up seven Assembly seats and taking control of the Senate. Kennedy’s clients did especially well, defeating four Republican incumbents and defending some of the state’s most vulnerable Democratic State Senators and Assembly Members.

CaliforniaLinda Sanchez won an historic race for Congress, making her part of the first sister act (with fellow client Loretta Sanchez) in the history of the U.S. Congress. Linda began the race in third place against two better known politicians, but won the primary by five points and later the general election by 14 points. In 1996, Loretta Sanchez had used our mail as her primary communications medium to beat 18-year congressional incumbent “B-1” Bob Dornan.

New JerseyThe firm provided mail for the winning County Executive candidates in the two largest counties in New Jersey – Dennis McNerney in Bergen County and Joe DiVincenzo in Essex County. Both counties have populations larger than seven states, and both candidates were considered underdogs. The political strategy site, PoliticsNJ.com,anointed Andrew Kennedy as one of the top hired guns in the state as a result of these two wins.
